Marketfield is still in very early access. Even though there is a paid downloadable version and a free browser demo, the game is not finished yet. Many systems, visuals, balance values, sounds, and features are still being changed, improved, and expanded based on testing and feedback.

After an update, the first browser launch may take longer while the new build is cached. If the loading bar stays near 90% for a while, the game is still preparing and should continue shortly.

i looked at the market tutorial and it did not tell me how to make a listing.  how do i make a listing?  i dont have any market cards.  there's nothing that lets me make a market card.  is the tutorial broken?

edit: you can't sell water.  the game tells you to sell something right after you have only made water, so it seems like it wants you to sell water.

I will be sure to make it more clear that you have to unlock another resource before you can make a listing.

The ai banner is not it chief lol.

If someone would reply to this when the ai slop gets replaced, that'd be lovely. I'm not going to try the game until that happens

As mentioned in the notes, the only ai generated content currently in the game is the sound and music. I already have new audio assets from an artist, and these will be implemented in the next update over the coming weeks.

Its literally *the* first impression people get of your work. It doesn't matter if its *in* the game, it still tells every prospective player that you as a dev are okay with using stolen assets, and thats not even getting into the ecological effect. If you can't make good placeholders, make bad ones, just actually MAKE them. STS2 literally uses ms paint drawings as placeholder art for all their stuff, theres literally royalty free assets you could use as well so you wouldn't even have to make anything and avoid stealing. Right now, all i see is an incremental game that looks like it might be fun, but I'm not gonna touch it with a 10 foot pole as long as that slop is in there.

That’s fair. My priority before the november launch is building the game itself. The current banners are placeholders so I can spend my limited time on gameplay and content, ensuring players get the most value for their money at launch. I understand that some people dislike ai generated assets, and I respect that. They will be replaced as development progresses and I have time to focus on polishing.

Cutting out mastery upgrades from demo is the wrong angle on "there are more features in the full release", but my productivity thanks you. This was a perfect time killer at work. Now i can focus again~<3

Sorry to hear that. The game is currently in a very early access stage, and there’s still a lot I plan to implement. The demo will also receive more content over time.

It is entirely possible that I cut too much from the full experience for this demo release without adding enough new content to make up for it. If thats the case, I sincerely apologize. I am still actively developing the game and taking feedback into account as I continue expanding and improving it. Thank you for your point of view!

What does the up-arrow icon do on the saved builds? I'm struggling to understand lots of aspects of the new system, but that's the biggest one for me right now.

The up arrow on the builds autobuys the build that you click. This is so that you can induvidually autobuy builds for each section

It should be upgrading the selected builds.

One thing that may not be explained clearly enough is how build selection works. When you click on one of the saved builds, it becomes highlighted, indicating that it is now the active build for that section. If no saved build is selected, the system defaults to using the “Previous Run” build for that section.

When you click the leftmost button out of the small buttons in the top right inside the build overview, all of your currently selected active builds should be displayed. These are the builds that the “Build ^” button is supposed to use when performing upgrades.

If that’s not what’s happening, then there may be an issue which i need to look into.

So in order to set up builds to use with the Build^ button, we need to go through each of the section buttons and highlight the build we want to use. Then the Build^ button will take from those builds we've highlighted. Yes? It sounds like an optional step is to hit the "all active builds" button to check to make sure the builds we want are listed.

It also sounds like "selected" and "active" mean the same thing here.

Edit: Yep, I tried it (but didn't hit the Build^ button, since I'm in the final stages of a run) and I follow you now.

Separately, and I hope it's OK to suggest this here, you might want to make it so the "save build on all sections" button doesn't require you to select a section first, since the section selected doesn't actually matter. It was extremely counter-intuitive.

I agree, it should be much simpler to use and easier to understand. I had some issues implementing it without having to select a section first, but i will fix that for the next update.

The demo is mainly meant to show the core loop of the game, but I did add some new features and fully reworked the multipliers and upgrade values across the upgrade tree, so it should still feel fresh even in the demo from a new run

I've implemented a way to export and import save files between the browser version and the downloaded version. It won't be available until the next update though, which i will release in a couple of days.

Hey, you might want to know there's some kind of bug at high storage levels. Trying to cook some recipes with the limit set to max (100%) complains that you have insufficient ingredients, but setting it to 99% works fine. It might be a floating-point or rounding error.

I'm seeing what might be a similar bug (or it might just be visual-only) with the overstim bright red coloration on the water bar. I've only been seeing dull red on the water bar this run. (All other bars are properly bright red.) Unfortunately, the individual-resource overstim effects are invisible, so I can't tell if it's visual-only or not.

Oh yeah, that's definitely something I want to know about!

The storage issue and the 99% bug have both already been reported on the Discord server, and I've fixed them. The fixes will be included in the next major patch, which should be out in a couple of days.

As for the visual overstim issue, I'll need to investigate that further. Thank you so much for reporting it!

Speaking of overstims, am I blind, or does Stick Bread not have its own overstim node? It is entirely possible I am blind. :-)

It doesn't, actually. I made all of the Overstim nodes in one go, and then kept adding more recipes afterward.

For now, I've been prioritizing QoL features, performance improvements, and save exporting before jumping back into new upgrades and late game content (That said, there will be more late game content in the next update).

I'm looking forward to sharing it all. I've got a lot of improvements, visual updates, upgrades, and unlocks in the works that I'm excited for everyone to see!

Got to milestone 11 before I had to stop. Towards the end 99% of the time is spent just picking up nodes. There NEEDS to be a way to automate this. Once you get the perk to ignore downsides there really no real thought behind picking a specific optional node so I was just rapidly clicking every single node I could and it still took a year and a half. There's also not much else to do besides just clicking on things. 


Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but I don't think the paths really mattered much. I mostly did the cooking one and did cheeseless pizza since it was pretty easy, but I did dip into the other ones and didn't really see why I would pick them since I felt the first one you unlocked gave you as much income as any of the other ones you did with a lot less effort.

Fun game over all early on, but rapidly gets tedious and repetitive with no real new mechanics to keep you engage. I really do wish I can 100% the prestige tree but it's just to boring at that point (probably need 2-3 more resets and I'm done) and I have Carpal Tunnel so can't really force myself through it

thank you for the feedback! I am working on implementing lots of QoL improvements, including a way to easier finish upgrading nodes. I agree completely that the paths stop mattering at a point, but that is mostly because the game is very unfinished and mostly considered a demo. I will continue bringing updates to make the lategame more fun, more meaningfull and easier to deal with. I appreciate that you took the time to write that much and help me improve the game!

What is the hotkey for starting all cooking pots? I see a mention of it in the Upgrades screen, but it's not listed in the hotkey settings and I can't figure out what key it is.

I actually didnt make a hotkey for the cookingpots. My thought was that cooking had to be a bit more of a struggle until auto. You can start all cookingpots by clicking the bell icon on the cookingpage though

Addictive gameplay! Times fly by. Allot more features then other incremental games! Cool to be able to have different strategies to progress! Great game

Really glad the strategy side is coming through! Thats one of the main things i wanted marketfield to have, lots of meaningfull small choices that gives variation to each run!

really nice game, but after all the time spent coming here, I dont really dare to prestige, let alone thinjk about the futre when I gotta choose one of the 5 exclusive paths that lock you out of the remaining 4 ones chosen...

Would be cool if we could sell farms by the way.

once you prestige, things move faster and faster depending on the prestige skills unlocked. I can do a full run unlocking everything in about 5-10 minutes now with almost all prestige skills unlocked.

Thanks for feedback! Farms can already be sold with the small trash button in the bottom left. It may be a bit too hidden, so Ill look at that.

And later prestige upgrades let you start with multiple resources aswell as those resources combine into more valuable recipes

sorry, maybe I am blind but I dont see no trash button on the frame tab.
I see my currently 5 farms as movable icons and pretty mcuh nothing else in the middle area.
and left is just the always present side bar, with the cooking and prestige button at the bottom.

It is a small circular brown button on each of the farms. Rigth next to the generation bar. If you still dont see it, maybe you could send me a screenshot on discord?

In was a REALLY bad idea to make an F1 key a hotkey in browser game.

Yeah thats fair. The game was mainly tested around the downloadable version, the browser version was more of a bonus addition when i uploaded to itch. As p_gl says though, the keybinds are rebindable, but i understand why having F1 as a default hotkey can be annoying

Well made, very addictive, everytime you prestige there is tons of new content to make your farm more effective and entertaining. I recommend that you download it because you will want be able to save and continue as you go to explore all the features.

This is now fixed and saving/loading works in the browser. It does however still remain unstable for patches and updates. To be sure your save persists between updates, download the game!
